Virgil Abloh: Figures of Speech Exhibition

Virgil Abloh: Figures of Speech Exhibition

Happy Monday Loves! Lately I’ve been in love with Mondays since they are like motivational for me before I dive into the upcoming week. This past week was overload with a lot of work and so much more. I just started my last fall semester as a college student. It’s bitter sweet to think that in four months I’ll be done with college. I am grateful to God for all these amazing opportunities coming my way, but sometimes I forget the importance of self-care. Which I am still trying to learn to have a balance in my life, but I am getting better at it. Tonight I’ll be doing some self care things & more studying!

I know this post is long over due and should have been up already, but it’s finally here! Thank you all for your patience and hope you enjoy this post.

Here are the highlights of Virgil Abloh: Figures of Speech Exhibition in Chicago.

unreleased prototypes for Nike x Off-White

Talk about a celebration in fashion history and highly anticipated show from the Museum of Contemporary Art debuts a beautiful way to start the summer in Chicago.  The Museum of Contemporary Art  brings Virgil Abloh: Figure of Speech Exhibition to life which showcases his work of the ultramodern and genre-bending. Virgil Abloh is an artist, designer, and icon in the fashion industry. If you weren’t aware of it before, Virgil Abloh is the creative director of Louis Vuitton’s men’s wear collection. Virgil Abloh adds a twist and unique perspective to the fashion industry.

Virgil Abloh’s master’s thesis recalls his days as an architecture student at IIT

The exhibition revisits the creative process and artistic inspiration from all the work of Virgil Abloh such as his early design highlights such as the T-shirt for Colette. He is not only changing the fashion industry but re-defining it by connecting it to the culture. Talk about a taste of Chicago for the fashion industry.

Virgil Abloh x IKEA collab

My favorite part of the exhibition was spotting endeavors such as the unreleased prototypes for Nike x Off-White. Virgil Abloh’s IKEA collaboration pieces are also on display which was very interesting to see this creativity.

When it comes to fashion I always admire the designer and the purpose behind the design of a collection. Whether it’s for a new season of sharing their touch and creative process on fashion pieces. It’s always inspiring to me to see all the hard work that a fashion designer does, especially when you see their career highlights come to life.

Alongside the clothing, the exhibit’s additional showcase that creativity and hard work can become something extraordinary. If you are an inspiring artist, designer, musician, or just a creative trying to accomplish your dreams. Don’t give up the road is full of obstacles, but remember you have a purpose, you are unique and different. And that is your power. May Virgil Abloh legacy keep on living for the future generations and aspiring world wide.

This exhibition is held at The Museum Of Contemporary Art Chicago from now until Sep 22, 2019.
